On July 5, 2024, the Transformational Leadership Center hosted a field day to celebrate the achievements of farmers who had implemented conservation agriculture practices. The event brought together farming groups from various areas of Gicumbi district to facilitate knowledge exchange. New groups like Mutete and Kageyo had the opportunity to learn from the experiences of established groups such as the one from Rukomo sector. The local governments expressed gratitude towards TLC for its consistent support and commended the farmers for applying the knowledge they acquired.

During the celebration, TLC provided each farmer with a goat to assist them in their development, along with providing manure fertilizer for their farms.

Ms. Yabaragiya Herene is an example of the impact TLC has had on these farmers. Previously, she used to work as a herder for others, and her children were unable to attend school due to the lack of proper uniforms. Additionally, her access to water was limited, and she had to work on other people’s farms for her livelihood. However, upon joining the conservation agriculture program, she was given a hen and was taught the techniques of conservative agriculture. With the support of Saving for Life and Loans, a group created by TLC to aid people in their development, she was able to purchase her own farm. As a result, she now has improved access to water and has bought a water tank to facilitate her daily activities#. Food security#PDN-Rwanda#
